PINETOWN INVITATIONAL - MAY
2012
Pinetown Gymnastics sent its dream team "The Flippin' Stars", led by
team captain Allan Chadwick, to compete in the Oddball Olympics on
Sunday May 6th. Our team prevailed against the other 19 teams that
were entered into the competition. With their new eye-catching green
kit, the Flippin' Stars set records on several events walked away
with the 1st place trophy.
The Oddball Olympics was organized by the Rotary Club of Cowie's
Hill and Counsellor Tim Brautesth to raise funds for Lahee Park.
Because it was such a fun and successful event, it has been proposed
the be held as an annual event.

PINETOWN INVITATIONAL - MAY 2012
Congratulations
to all the gymnasts who took part at the Pinetown Invitational held
last weekend. This competition was a warm up for the WAG Level 8 &
upwards and MAG Elite gymnasts, to help prepare them for the
forthcoming Regionals competition and then Nationals soon after.

NEW STAFF UNIFORMS

AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012
Lindo Ngcongo and Siphesihle Biyase will be competiting at the 2012
African Championships held in Tunisia this week. They will represent
South African as part of the Men's Team, and will be facing a tough
competition against other African Nations, especially those in
Northern Africa.
UPDATE : The Senior Team placed 4th in the Team event, and the
Junior Men placed 3rd. |

LOTTO EQUIPMENT ARRIVES
A new beam, high bar and mats were delivered
this week from the National Lotteries Board.

HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS TESTING
Nkululeko Ndlovu along with other top ranked
Juniors, was invited to the High Performance Centre in Pretoria on
January 28th.
He took part in a Sport Science testing and managed to perform the
most pull ups. 24 ! |

FIG JUNIOR AGE GROUP TRAINING COURSE
Over the period 20 – 22 January 2012 South
Africa hosted the above course at the Matsport Centre in Pretoria
with 2 international facilitators , Hardy Fink & Carol-Angela
Orchard from Canada and Great Britain.
This is only the 3rd time that this training course has been
presented and SA was privileged to host it on behalf of the Southern
African Zone with Zimbabwe , Namibia and Mozambique in attendance.The
course is designed to give developing countries information with
regards to the development of junior gymnasts by giving examples of
an age group completion program and a set of testing within age
group bands to check progress in relation to worldwide norms.Louise
Bamber and Jesse Kitzen-Abelson were the 2 KZN high performance
coaches selected to attend. |

OUR BOYS AT THE AFRICAN GAMES TRIALS
Lindo Ngcongo, Siphesihle Biyase & Stix Ngcobo led the KZN force
as Sthembiso Linda, Lindo Sithole, Nkululeko Masondo, Michael
Robbertze followed in their footsteps as they are learning to
step up to the plate.
After 2 days of competition, Ptn Gym achieved several top 3
placings on each apparatus.
Jnrs : Nkululeko placed 3rd on Parallel Bars. Snrs : Siphesihle
1st FX & PH & 2nd PB & HB. Stix Ngcobo 3rd PB. Lindo Ngcongo
placed 2nd on PH, 3rd SR, and 2nd on PB.
Congratulations to Lindo Ngcongo and Siphesihle Biyase for being
selected to the All-Africa Championships team. Five gymnasts in
total will represent RSA for the event in Tunisia later on in
April

PINETOWN GYM PRIZEGIVING 2011
Pinetown Gymnastics Club's
annual prize giving boasted over 300 spectators and over 100
children participating.
The show was comprised of different exhibitions from all levels
training more than 1.5 hours/week.
Contact the Gym Office about obtaining a DVD of the event.
Congratulations to all the award winners and thank you to all
the gymnasts and coaches for the entertaining performances

LINDO, TYRONE & ALLAN TO UNIVERSITY GAMES
A big congratulations to Lindo Ngcongo & Tyrone Morris who were
selected to
represent USSA Gymnastics at the 26th Summer Universiade Games
to be held in Shenzhen University, China from 12-23 August.
This event is the second largest International Sporting event in
the world behind the Olympic Games !
Allan Chadwick will be accompanying them as coach. What a
wonderful achievement from our own Pinetown Gymnasts !
Well done to all of you & Good luck with the rest of your
preparation.
We are very proud of you !
